"Destination
Unknown" - Middle School Mission trip - June
29 - July 2, 2003
It's not about where you are going, but what you were created
to do!
Destination
Unknown 2003 Recap
Annabelle,
Rachel, Rachel, Elise, Brett, Kolin, Lauren, and Mauna all served
in Toledo and Akron during this summer mission experience. Jonathan
and Alyssa Stufft provided leadership for the team. In Toledo,
our team worked for the Toledo Service Project where we weeded
an urban garden, trimmed hedges, cleaned up and mulched landscape
beds, and mowed the lawns for three properties owned by Toledo
FOCUS. One morning of dedicated service by our team saved an entire
week of work for the crew of 2 that normally maintains the properties.
As an additional part of the Toledo Service Project, our team
helped clean up trash and debris from more than two city blocks
- twelve bags in all! We even inspired third grade Brittany, a
local resident, to help with the work in her neighborhood!
In
Akron, the team continued their service by supporting OPEN M,
a neighborhood mission center. We painted two public bathrooms
in the mission center, as well as completing some previous painting
begun by another volunteer group. This outreach saved several
days worth of painting for the maintenance supervisor at the mission
center, and allowed him to attend to other high priority work
in the building. The entire team would like to extend a heartfelt
thank you to all of the members who support the Hands-On Mission
fund, as well as request your continued support so that experiences
such as this can be made available to all who wish to reach out
to others with the love of Jesus.
